Better understood is what it does; in order to further its own mysterious ends, it gives benefits (power, technology, spells, knowledge, influence and/or whatever else is appropriate) to groups and individuals who use acronyms. Additionally, it can be bargained with for more at the cost of some specific service. It has recently grown more strict in enforcing its deadlines for the latter deals – supposedly, the result of a deal that was reneged on. To the outside observer, its activities may seem malign, benign, indifferent, or just plain weird.
