(Yes, fanfiction existed before the Internet. Ask your parents&amp;mdash; or your grandparents, depending.) He was thrown into the Secret Crisis Of Infinite Wars of 1987, one of those universe-exploding cosmic event type of things, and became friends with a bunch of people, resulting in a vague not-quite-team group called the Space Cadets.
