Mable Phillips, a mutant, came to Net.ropolis and joined with [[Manga Girl]] against the [[Giant Sewer Rat]]. Shortly afterwards he was recruited for the government program [[Teenfactor]], becoming a founding member. Soon he became romantically involved with his teammate [[Vixen]]. He was initially the team leader but over time the role shifted to Carolyn.

When the demonic consciousness of the [[Insanity Gaulnaut]] emerged and attempted to [[Retcon|retcon]] reality, Mable wished himself out of existence, leading to the world becoming a hellish dystopia (naturally). He managed to restore reality with the aid of that world's [[Aero Lass|Carolyn Frost]], [[Electra]]. He also slept with that world's Vixen, not wanting to die a virgin.

When he returned, he remained on Teenfactor for some time until he discovered that he was HIV-positive, after which he broke up with Vixen and left the team. After the death of most of the team, including Vixen at the hands of [[Janis Kult]], he rejoined to battle her and [[Voidmaster]]. Shortly afterward he died, with his former teammates [[Useless Powers Lad|Terrence Coffee]] and [[Aero Lass|Carolyn Forge]] watching over him.

Highly self-conscious and guilt-ridden.

Mable Phillips has the ability to malinger, IE, fake the symptoms of sickness. He can projectile vomit at his enemies. Bad puns cause him to become violently allergic.

Malingerer Lad wears a puke-green costume, and his nose is constantly caked with snot.
