alt.tv.friends is a newsgroup dedicated to the TV show Friends. Yes, even non-nerdy TV shows had their own newsgroups. Fan.Boy and Retcon Lad traveled there on their quest to understand the nature of the former's many counterparts, and met its resident Fan.Boy. It is a replica of New York City, mostly rather unreal in nature, with a version of Monica's apartment filled with people discussing Friends.
This newsgroup still exists to this day, though it is only used for crossposts and the occasional unrelated political rant. It can be read and posted to here or on your local newsreader.
