rec.arts.comics.xbooks was the newsgroup dedicated to a certain comic book franchise, centered around humans with non-standard genetic codes, that is considered eXcellent by some and eXecrable by others.
Retcon Lad was from a fanfic universe based in this newsgroup before retconning himself into the Looniverse. Deja Dude and Master Blaster hung out here before the latter joined the LNH. Pizza Girl was based on a poster there.
In Real Life, the group was eventually replaced by rec.arts.comics.marvel.xbooks, which can be read here.
