History
Deft was once an undistinguished middle manager for a large corporation in the throes of downsizing. The pressure of having to constantly fire people while avoiding being fired lead him to watch lots and lots of professional wrestling as a relief from his stress. He began to draw parallels between the wrestling storylines and his own struggles, and eventually started making decisions based on those parallels, leading to a moment where he saw himself being allegorically fired at the same time that he was being literally fired; thus, he achievied a deep understanding of man's perception and the universe and blew a mental fuse. He turned into a fount of universal enthusiasm, started a skateboard messenger service, and took to wearing a trenchcoat. Eventually, Deft was befriended by Ramaj Singh, who gave him a place to stay in exchange for the information he could access.
By mid-1993, Deft and Ramaj lived together in the mysterious Room-Continuum. Deft saw the coming of a force that was trying to control Access, and when Ramaj realized this would upset their dinner plans, they went off to Chicago to face it. They joined the big gathering of trenchcoaters[1], and ended up sucked into one of the Universal Office's Pocket Bureaucracies.
Personality
Lighthearted and kind of a goofball. Oblivious to personal danger. Gets bored easily and likes to look out the window on airplanes.
Powers and Abilities
Can "see the present" by watching wrestling on TV – there's no obvious connection between the wrestling stories and the divination he gets from them, but hey, it works. Really quite good at skateboarding, especially the kind needed to outrun approaching monsters.
Appearance
A six-foot-tall man with executive good looks and a mohawk. An aging skate punk, as skate punks go.
Wears a camo trenchcoat for action scenes and a black one for formal occasions.
Appearances
- First Appearance: Wrath of the Administrator
