History
When the Knightforce Elite appeared on the Looniearth, they claimed that Pliable Lad was a clone of their member Plymax. It turned out that they were all evil clones, but then Plymax - seemingly Pliable Lad's twin, with identical powers – came to help stop them. He confirmed the clone story (even though, many issues later, it would be proven untrue) and returned to his home world.

Notes
After Retcon Midnight, Pliable Lad's "true" backstory revealed him as a native of Real Life Minus One, with no mention of Plymax or cloning. This would presumably retcon some aspects of Plymax's history, but the matter has never been addressed in-story.
