History
When the Knightforce Elite appeared on the Looniearth, they claimed that Pliable Lad was a clone of their member Plymax. It turned out that they were all evil clones, but then Plymax – seemingly Pliable Lad's twin, with identical powers – came to help stop them. He confirmed the clone story (even though, many issues later, it would be proven untrue; see Notes) and returned to his home world.

Just like Pliable Lad.
Notes
After Retcon Midnight, Pliable Lad's "true" backstory revealed him as a native of Real Life Minus One, with no mention of Plymax or cloning. This would presumably retcon some aspects of Plymax's history, but the matter has never been addressed in-story.
