rec.humor.oracle is a newsgroup based around the Internet Oracle, who was both an omniscient dude with a short temper and an interactive way to pair up silly questions with snappy answers.
Fan.Boy and Retcon Lad traveled there to understand the nature of Fan.Boy's counterparts (one of whom was an annoying fan of the Oracle). Their quest ended there, as they actually managed to get a straight answer out of the Oracle – albeit one that only left more questions...
