alt.dev.null is "the ultimate in moderated newsgroups," moderated by a black hole. Any post submitted there is automatically cancelled. Setting "Followup-To" to alt.dev.null prevents any replies being made to a post; it is used to cut short unruly threads.
Fan.Boy and Retcon Lad crossposted themselves there with Firewall to stop her plan to cut off the Loonited States from the rest of Usenet. It appeared as a blank white plane:
