Nick Starless was an experienced space pilot even as a teenager. In 1997, he attended a dance club which was attacked by the Dark Conclave. The angel Divine came to his rescue and summoned Supperboy and Holy Roller, and they formed a short-lived hero team called Supperboy and the Potaters. He and Divine fell in love, with his rooted human perspective complementing her semi-omniscient divine one.
Nick and Divine came to Earth to thwart the destructive plans of God alongside Boy Redundant Lad and the Action League: New Brunswick. Shortly afterwards, Mystery recruited them to The Team. Nick was crucial in helping them fight the Enobi.
