The name Legion of Net.Villains was coined back in the early days of the LNH, and used interchangeably with Brotherhood of Net.Villains until the BoNV became the standard term for the team opposed to the LNH.
In 2007, Mynabird and his team, the Surreptitious Seven, helped free all of the villains being held prisoner in the LNHQ and brought back the name Legion of Net.Villains for this vast army of supervillains. After being defeated in Beige Midnight #4, they changed their name to the "Legion of Net.Freedom Lovers" and started recruiting ex-Freedom Chippers.
