History

Nina Yamashiro's father was a tokusatsu stuntman who'd fought alongside the Ultimate Ninja against one of those monster-creating crime syndicates that Japan is full of, and became his blood brother. Her mother was a high-ranking member of the League of Net.Assassins, sent to kill him, but they fell in love. UN helped them escape to Net.ropolis and solemnized their marriage.

Nina's parents settled down into a relatively peaceful life. She was raised as a ninja, but was largely non-practicing. The Ultimate Ninja visited her now and again, and took her to see the LNH; it was on one of these visits that she got into a ridiculous space adventure. However, since she wasn't a regularly appearing character, she aged in something like real time, and went to art school for animation.

But then, Catalyst Lass, Fearless Leader and Cheesecake-Eater Lad brought her to the LNHQ. They revealed that her uncle had transcended fictional reality into the imagination of the Real World, and that he had set up a contingency plan for someone to take his place – and his first choice was Nina. Feeling conflicted but needing a change, she took on the role, going to school part-time and playing the role of Ultimate Ninja part-time.

But then the sabertooth virus hit, and Nina was trapped in the role. She struggled with maintaining the facade, but with the help of Cheesecake-Eater Lad and UltraKiwi, she battled MechaKiwi Wondersock and Perfect Omegacron X, and realized she could, and must, become her own Ultimate Ninja. After everything was resolved, she revealed her identity to the world!

Unsurprisingly, this was not universally popular. Some Legionnaires were firmly in favor of her actions, while others were firmly against, but the majority were unsure, and in this environment of doubt, Kid Unknown launched a successful petition for a leadership election. At first, Nina declined to campaign, leaving the decision up to the membership, but Cynical Lass convinced her to step up when actual net.villains joined the fray. Chaos ensued when she disappeared, hunted by an unknown enemy, but soon, she was back – reverted back to childhood!

Personality

Stubborn and strong-willed. Thoughtful and imaginative. Has difficulty expressing intimate feelings. Bisexual, and has a lot of weird gender feels brought out by the role she plays.

Powers and Abilities

Ninja training. Wields the Super Ninjamorpher, which augments her ninja abilities to superhuman levels and gives her a psychic shield, concealing her mind from most telepaths. In times of great trouble, can summon the machine god Ninjaguar, which transforms into a giant robot.

As a child, was possibly the only person in the Looniverse who could get away with calling the Ultimate Ninja "Uncle Grumpy".

Footnotes

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 Due to the fact that WikiLull EXHALE and Hungry, Hungry Sabertooths! #6 took years to come out, a number of stories were written where the status of the Ultimate Ninja was ambiguous. Thus, appearances of the Ultimate Ninja between late 2016 and the publishing of HHS #6 may be interpreted as either the original, with the story happening on Earth-Combover, or Ultimate Ninja II in the post-WikiLull Looniverse. (Notably, Legion of Net.Heroes Volume 3 #2 explicitly features the post-WikiLull Ultimate Ninja, and Hungry, Hungry Sabertooths! #3 and #13 retcon #1 to happening on Earth-Combover.)
