History
Kid Kirby's origins are unknown. A story he told Sing-Along Lass implied that he is an Earth human who gained the Power Kirby within recent history, but conversations with the ancient Windrider contradict this, and he sometimes refers to "mankind" as something he isn't part of. It is known, however, that he is not the first Kirbian.
He joined the LNH around the time of the Cry.Sig, to protect them from the coming of the Power Liefeld. In The Comics Connection, he saved Sing-Along Lass by imbuing her with a portion of his power, transforming her into his Herald. He took on the responsibility of training her to protect her from the cosmic beings who would take notice of a wielder of the Power Kirby.
Leading the LNH into battle against Dimwiticus, the Devourer of Dimension, he was put on trial for his intervention by a court of cosmic beings chaired by the Living Moderator, but was declared innocent, for he was fulfilling his responsibility as the wielder of the Power Kirby, who embody "the best of the good and the worst of the bad." Not long after, Sing-Along Lass returned her power to him after she had become the cosmically-charged Carina, the Kirbian.
Kid Kirby continued to assist the LNH in many a cosmic battle, such as facing off against the minions of Barkseid and the invasion of OMAR. On September 11th, 2001, he (or a Kirbybot) saved one of the twin towers from falling, though this did not prevent the Dramatic imbalance caused by Real Life events intruding on the LNH[1].
When the Legion of Net.Villains attempted to free the galaxy's worst criminals from the Ultimate Black Hole, Kid Kirby joined the Legion's response team aboard the Starship Jefferson. But Mynabird drained him of the Power Kirby, and he fell to The Collector's Planet, where he met a man who seemed to be Jack Kirby himself, saved at the moment of death by The Collector!
Personality
Kid Kirby is aloof. He gets along well enough with his fellow LNHers, but believes that his cosmic station requires a certain distance to be maintained. He expects people to listen to him, and will not be ignored. Indignance comes easily to the Kirbian, who is prone to long speeches; he is very expressive. Silver Surfer without the angst is a good comparison. He is closest to his fellow scientists since they can keep up when he takes the conversation to a higher level.
Kid Kirby's relationship with Sing Along Lass, his herald, is like that of an uncle with a favorite niece. He is stern during training, but will (sometimes reluctantly) actually socialize alongside her at ceremonies and the like. Those who would harm Sing Along Lass do so at risk of incurring Kid Kirby's wrath, which is a terrible thing to behold.
His relationship with the non-cosmic races is that of an older brother who is there when absolutely needed but wants to see the younger sibling able to stand up for itself. His relationship with the Cosmos-class Entities varies. He is a peer to many, but most RACelestials ignore him.
